To all of Pope Emeritus Benedict's detractors and those who rumor that Bergoglio refused the Papacy in the 2005 Conclave to give way to the Ratzinger nomination: that is pure unsubstantiated speculation!
What is certain is that it was Pope Benedict's humble rejection of the Papal office which gave way to Pope Francis today! Without Pope Benedict there would be no Pope Francis. Without Pope Benedict's faith in God there would have been no Papal resignation; and in less the four more years Bergoglio would not have entered the Conclave.
There was a time for Benedict and now it is the time for Francis and let us be done with the conjured myths of political intrigue! We do, after all, believe in and trust our Providential God.
