Answering Supreme Court Logical Errors in Marriage Case

Marriage March 2015

Below is Plinthos' summary of the corrections made in today's Witherspoon Institute article "Correcting Six Mistakes from the Same-Sex Marriage Oral Arguments Last Week" by James Phillips.

1. Opposite-sex marriage rates have declined since the legalization of same-sex marriage, in every case.

2. Same-sex marriage disconnects marriage from the long-held norm that the institution of marriage binds children to their biological father and mother.

3. Marriage law is not made simply for the bestowing of dignity but to regulate the institution and the benefits thereof for the good of society.

4. Procreation's natural context and children's rights are both contradicted and trampled with same-sex marriage.

5. With this case there is a disproportionate rush toward legalization, like never in the history of jurisprudence.

6. The heterosexual nature of marriage is an essential distinction of the institution of marriage (similar to monogamy).
