Lights From Asia

As the Holy Father Pope Francis makes his first apostolic journey to the Far East--Korea--we are reminded of the first Korean Christian: Yi Seung-hun (Peter), and the miraculous beginnings of the Christian Faith in Korea! For half a century before any priest arrived, there were Christians in Korea, because of the apostolic faith of this one man! An extraordinary outpouring of the Holy Spirit on that blessed land! God bless Korea.

Along the lines of Asian evangelization particularly through the nobility, recall also the Chinese diplomat turned Trappist monk: Dom Pierre-Célestin Lou Tseng-Tsiang.

Also, we must mention the great Vietnamese confessor of the faith Cardinal Phanxicô Xaviê Nguyễn Văn Thuận.

These are three great men of the East from which the world, especially the Asian world (the nascent church of the third millennium), must be very aware, in Christ!
