Archiabbatia Territorialis Sancti Martini in Monte Pannoniae, founded in 996, is the second largest territorial Abbey in the world, after Monte Cassino. Father Stanley Jaki, one of the most significant scientific minds in modern times, was a monk of that Abbey, having lived there during World War II and ordained priest in 1948. The Abbey is only 20 km. from the city of Győr (photos below), the most important city of northwest Hungary. |
