Mother Angelica World Youth Day 1993

"The Hidden Agenda"

Plinthos was there at Mile High Stadium when he saw the farce and immediately left to join the CFR's who were doing the Via Crucis at a nearby Denver Church.
On the way out I saw a group of bishops, one of whom I knew (Bishop Gonzalez, auxiliary of Boston at the time) and warned them: "Don't go in, Jesus is a woman! Foul play!"
I think they went in anyway.

Reverting to the Roman habit

Requiescat in pace!

Wikipedia's assessment quotes the perverse Weakland's reprimand of Mother Angelica

World Youth Day 1993 was criticized on the Catholic Television station EWTN. In a 1993 episode of Mother Angelica Live, Mother Angelica harshly criticized a mimed re-enactment of theStations of the Cross at the World Youth Day in Denver, Colorado, which was attended by Pope John Paul II. Mother Angelica was particularly upset that a woman was playing Jesus. Archbishop Rembert Weakland of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee called Mother Angelica's comments "...one of the most disgraceful, un-Christian, offensive, and divisive diatribes I have ever heard".[1] Mother Angelica responded by saying, "He didn't think a woman playing Jesus was offensive? He can go put his head in the back toilet as far as I am concerned!"[2]

N.B. Weakland stepped down soon after Paul Marcoux, a former Marquette University theology student, revealed in May 2002 that he was paid $450,000 to settle a sexual assault claim he made against the archbishop more than two decades earlier. The money came from the archdiocese.[7]
