The Internet Corrupts You, Suggested Resolutions for Self-Control

For all that is in the world, is the concupiscence of the flesh, and the concupiscence of the eyes, and the pride of life, which is not of the Father, but is of the world. I John 2:16

These three insidious sins are the three typical sins of the internet, for children, youth and adults, people of all ages and all types. What dirties the boy dirties also the man.

  • Concupiscence of the flesh: pornography, voyeurism, lust, prostitution, sex slavery resulting in every manner of sexual perversion and abuse.
  • Concupiscence of the eyes: idle curiosity, sloth, avarice, envy resulting in disordered life.
  • Pride of life: this is especially evident on facebook, the forum of vain glory, self-aggrandizement, phoniness and superficiality. Blogging is much better than facebook!
Real men blog! Forget facebook.

N.B. Google tells me that facebook is misspelled, that it should be caps. Not! It does not merit that dignity in my vocabulary. It tries to take you over and take over the world. Resist!

Suggested resolutions.

Do not check email daily.
Do not check facebook weekly, in other words, spend more than a week each time you go there. Make that a norm for any digital network!

Curiosity is the enemy of study.

Practice penitence (self restraint, i.e. temperance and modesty) in your use of internet, for love of Jesus Christ and the ever virgin Mary, our Mother, and for serenity.
