Homosexualism: We Need to Coin a New Term

Homosexualism is the acceptance and/or promotion of homosexuality. It is a pandemic ideology for which we have no proper and accepted term in the English language. I propose for all of my readers that you use this word regularly to clearly identify the present problem, because the first step in solving a problem is to clearly identify it, distinguishing it from everything else.

The key distinctive characteristic of homosexualism is the element of scandal: leading others into sin. It is a powerful corrupting force in society, especially against the young. It is an essential part of the dictatorship of relativism, entirely intolerant of any opposition.

Regarding scandal the Basic Catechism of Christian Doctrine (Washington, NJ: AMI Press, 1999, QQ. 328-329) has this to say:

The sin of scandal is either causing the sins of others, or sharing in them, through our own fault. We may either cause or share the guilt of another's sin in nine ways:

1. By counsel
2. By command
3. By consent
4. By provocation
5. By praise or flattery
6. By concealment
7. By being a partner in sin
8. By silence
9. By defending the ill done

Our vocabulary is not on par with the prevailing phenomena which we are experiencing in the area of homosexual immorality. Consider the distorted and deceptive neologism homophobia and how it does not sufficiently distinguish between the hatred of the sin and hatred of the sinner. So we have people making such erroneous and ridiculous claims such as "the homosexual tendency is not evil." That is like saying that the temptation to steal is not evil, or the temptation to molest children is not evil.  Or consider the designation "gay," which does not at all clarify whether the person in question accepts or rejects the homosexual tendency which he suffers. Concupiscence in all its forms is evil! It is an evil consequence of original sin and of actual sin. Clearly, further distinctions in our vocabulary need to be made. My position, and the position of Jesus Christ and of the Catholic Church has always been anti-homosexualism, rejecting every form of homosexuality and the promotion thereof as a horrible evil for everyone involved, including the added element of scandal! In the absence of a clearly defined vocabulary we have trouble getting our head around the real problem, so we give it a hyphenated name like homosexual-sub-culture or homo-mafia. Let's call it by a proper name: homosexualism! It must be rejected and up-rooted.

So, homosexuality plus scandal is homosexualism. It is in no way innocent or inculpable. And it exists. In fact, it has taken the entire Western world by storm. Probably most homosexualists today are not even homosexuals! Homosexualism was the characteristic sin of Theodore McCarrick, which "everyone knew" because of the element of scandal, and it is a sin which is presently so prevalent and tolerated even at the highest levels of the Church. Consider Pope Francis' remark regarding a homosexual Roman Curial Official and priest who might be struggling to live a chaste life, "who am I to judge." That comment entirely neglects to address the element of inevitable scandal, given the position of leadership of the notorious homosexual and the acceptance thereof by the Supreme Pontiff himself. At the very least the Holy Father's comment promotes scandal by silence in the face of a public fact which everyone knows! It is entirely demoralizing for all! It is the scandalous sin of homosexualism which corrupts everything it touches. Name it! Homosexualism itself is abuse! It is therefore not to be tolerated in any way.
