Criticism of papal pronouncements should be possible and necessary in the measure that they lack foundation in the Scriptures and the Creed regarding the Faith of the universal Church. Where there is no consensus of the universal Church nor a clear testimony of the sources, neither is an obligatory decision possible; if one were formally given, the conditions would be lacking and the question of it's legitimacy would therefore have to be raised.
(Plinthos translation)

Messainlatino
Hence the fundamentalism of some who hang on every confusing word of Pope Francis betray the Catholic religion if any of the Catholic Faith is thereby called into question. The Pope Himself is a servant of the Truth, not it's maker.
Here, Pope Francis is, paradoxically clarifying for the world the limits of Papal infallibility. The ordinary magisterium is bound to the Tradition, or else it cannot be infallible.
