New York Covid-19 Doctor on Transmission

The most common way of transmission is by touching an infected person or something touched by an infected person then touching your face (nose/mouth).

Covid-19 is not commonly transmitted through the air. It is not an airborne virus. That can only occur in closed and close quarters with an infected person for over 20 minutes.

Therefore, here are the proper precautions against this disease. All further measures should be deliberate propaganda designed to get people to start paying attention!
  • keep ample social distance with others (3 feet)
  • entire household stay at home as much as possible and minimize social circle
  • refrain from touching people outside your home, and there, only as necessary
  • minimize touching things touched by others, outside your household
  • wash or sterilize hands, especially after touching something touched by others outside of your household, and keep your hands from your nose & mouth until you have done that
  • wear a mask/hankerchief to go out if you will touch things touched by others
  • even wear hankerchief on face to go out, just to increase awareness
  • those who are sick with symptoms of Covid-19 should isolate, not go out in public, and have minimal and only necessary contact with those in the home, sterilizing everything they touch
  • those with shortness of breath, and only they, should go to hospital

Conscious of and keeping these norms, the churches should remain open with full access to the sacraments, but forbidding close congregating.

Following these protocols, the number of people in church is irrelevant! There is no reason large churches cannot accommodate up to 50-100 people, especially if the doors are left open (no one having to touch the common door) and/or hand sanitizer is available at the door.

Private masses with a few of the faithful should not be forbidden!

Confessions in a traditional confessional should not be forbidden; you have the screen and can also keep extra distance.
