"The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib: but Israel hath not known me, and my people hath not understood." Is. 1:3
That was the text of my meditation text during prayer this morning, having picked up a Vatican Edition of the Libri Prophetarum which I bought in Rome years ago and have seldom opened. It was on the first page of the text and reminded me of Saint Francis' invention of the Nativity scene complete with ox and ass. This must have been his message! All you who love Francis (the Pope as well as the Saint), be smart. Acknowledge God in Jesus Christ! According to Francis, those who do not know (or reject) Jesus Christ are dumber and more pitiable than beasts.
Don't be dumber than ox or ass, like Israel that did not recognize God, His people that did not understand! Acknowledge God,...the Lord,...your Lord!...Jesus Christ!
Cognovit bos possessorem suum, et asinus praesepe domini sui; Israel non congnovit, populus meus non intellexit.
