Interview in June 1985 with the then Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger on RAI (Italy). The already brilliant theologian and Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith talks about his vision of the problems of the contemporary Church, on the occasion of the publication of the book 'Report on Faith', written in collaboration with journalist Vittorio Messori. The fact that a member of the Curia, at the head of a dicastery of fundamental importance, agreed to dialogue with a writer was a break with the traditional confidentiality of the governing bodies of the Church of Rome.

For the present Pope to take a fresh look at Vatican II, without studying and presenting the interpretation and implementation of these his two Vatican II expert predecessors would be the height of stupidity and patronizing of the Catholic faithful who have lived through all the drama of the past three papacies, the Francis rupture of the continuity of the faith faithfully handed down by his two predecessors.
